Finally, a USB adapter for your breadboard prototypes. Depending on which driver you install, this device can become a USB to serial adapter, or a USB to 8 bit I/O port. Use the VCP driver to easily communicate with microcontrollers, complete with hardware flow control signals. Or use the D2XX driver and the provided .dll to manipulate (read/write) each of the 8 data pins (D0-D7).

Using as a serial adapter is of great benefit when interfacing with notebook computers, in which standard serial ports are becoming a rarity.

A serial EEPROM is provided to hold your own vendor and product ID strings. Although if you do not have your own, you can use the pre-loaded defaults. New product and vendor ID's can be loaded over USB through an intuitive windows application.
